Lake Mary prepares to celebrate All-Stars after winning Little League World Series

LAKE MARY, Fla. – The City of Lake Mary and people across Central Florida are ramping up to celebrate the Lake Mary Little League All Stars on Saturday.

The City of Lake Mary is currently planning a “once in a lifetime” celebration for the team after beating Chinese-Taipei 2-1 for the Little League World Series title on Sunday.

John Gryglewicz lives in Longwood. He and his friends, who are from Port Orange, were all ecstatic for the Lake Mary Little League team’s huge win.

“I think it’s fantastic on a world level for them to achieve this status is incredible,” Gryglewicz said. “Not only for the players but the coaches.”

Gryglewicz’s and his friends said they plan to be in Lake Mary for the big celebration on Saturday.

“They are Little League rockstars to us now, right,” Gryglewicz said.

Josh Thacker, who is visiting the Sunshine State from Ohio, knew about the big win and is proud of the team.

“Their comeback was crazy,” Thacker said. “Coming from Ohio. I mean, I’m a big baseball guy. I played baseball, so I’m here to support anybody, especially the USA.”

4th Street Bar and Grill hosted several watch parties throughout the Little League World Series. Manager Mike Periord said they’re opening up at 10 a.m. instead of their usual opening time at 11 a.m.

“We’re taking reservations now — get ready for it,” Periord said.

Periord said they’ve continued to increase their deliveries to the restaurant as Lake Mary advanced.

“We’ve been ready all through this,” Periord said. “Every time they’ve won we’ve just continued to order, order, order.”

Plans were announced last Friday for this Saturday’s celebration — however this was before Lake Mary won the U.S. Championship Title, which ultimately led them to winning the entire Little League World Series.

The Lake Mary Parks and Rec department tells us they have been planning the celebration for weeks but since they won the entire Little League World Series, they’ve made additional changes to accommodate more people.

We will update this story with more details about this weekend’s celebration and any changes, as soon as we receive them.
