Lamine Yamal Believes FC Barcelona Is The Best Team In The World Ahead Of El Clasico Against Real Madrid

FC Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal revealed that he and his teammates believe the Blaugrana is the “best team in the world” ahead of El Clasico, and after it thrashed Bayern Munich 4-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old was once more sublime at the Montjuic Stadium, routinely getting the better of a figure believed by many to be the best left back in the world in Alphonso Davies and supplying a mind-bending assist for Raphinha to complete his hat trick in the second half.

With Barca top of La Liga by three points over their bitter rivals, Lamine was asked post match about Saturday’s installment of El Clasico at the Bernabeu, which could end up proving key to who claims the Spanish top flight title come May.

Despite Bayern being described as the Catalans’ “ogre” and bogeyman in Europe by the local press, Lamine revealed how “before this match we were already feeling very confident”.

“We believe we are the best team in the world, and I think we are proving it. We will go with all our strength, and may the best team win,” he further stated, with Los Blancos themselves coming off a 5-2 win over Bayern’s main domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

Lamine stressed that it was “very important to beat Bayern 4-1 in a very important week”.

“We’re doing very well this season, but there’s always the worry of what will happen in the Champions League. We’re a great team and we’ve shown that,” he reiterated.

Looking to take the spotlight off himself, Lamine highlighted the strong midfield performances of Pedri – said to be in the best moment of his career – and Marc Casado.

“And Rapha for his hat trick, of course. Me? I had a great time, I think it showed and I’m very happy. The change came in good shape because I have to rest,” he concluded, regarding his 85th minute substitution by manager Hansi Flick for Ansu Fati.

In the Spanish capital on Saturday then, Lamine is guaranteed to be a starter on the right wing looking to cause Carlo Ancelotti’s men and in particular Ferland Mendy all kinds of bother.
