Latvia vs Canada Score And All 2025 World Juniors Scores This Week – FloHockey
After more than sixteen shootout attempts, Eriks Mateiko sealed the deal for the Latvian team over Canada in the 2025 World Juniors preliminary round in Ottawa on Friday, Dec. 27.
The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship is set to showcase the next generation of hockey stars, with nations from around the globe competing for the coveted gold medal.
In the goalie crease for Latvia, Linard Feldbergs stopped 54 of 56 shot attempts on Friday night against Canada.
Latvia vs Canada World Juniors Scores: Latvia Upsets Canada In Shootout 3-2
After tying the game with Canada at two goals with just two and a half minutes remaining in regulation time, Latvia ended up coming out with the win in Friday’s contest at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships.
They just barely survived a chaotic push by the Canadians in the final moments of the game before the buzzer sounded, sending the two into overtime. Latvian goalie Linards Feldbergs made a number of important saves in the final minutes and in overtime to keep them in the fight.
Canada was called for a too many men penalty with just 42 seconds remaining in overtime to give Latvia the extra person on the ice but they were unable to convert as time ticked down.
The teams went to a shootout, where Linards Feldbergs was pitted against Jack Ivankovic between the posts for a sudden death battle.

The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship will air on TSN and RDS on television in Canada. The tournament will be streamed on TSN+ in Canada, as well.
