Lee’s Summit business heavily damaged by fire

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) – An investigation is underway after fire heavily damaged a Lee’s Summit manufacturing business.

Emergency crews received a call around 11 a.m. about a fire in the paint room at Newco Manufacturing. The business is just west of Southwest Scherer Road and MO-291 Highway.

Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke coming from the business. The people inside the building were in the process of evacuating.

Additional firefighters responded to help. The department said the fire caused the roof of the building to partially collapse. Additional damage inside the building is also reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
