Leominster burger restaurant closes; mayor says ‘different concept’ will replace it

The Fix Burger Bar in Leominster recently closed its doors, with a new business on the way to occupy the space, according to Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella.

“The Fix closed and another will reopen,” Mazzarella wrote in a post on Facebook on Monday. “Different concept. You won’t be disappointed.”

He talked about the closure during a livestream on his Facebook page later that day. During a recent trip to the restaurant, he noticed that many of the employees he recognized no longer worked there.

“They’re going to replace it,” he said. “The Fix will close and, again, it’s a business thing for them. They still have locations and other restaurants. Their lease wasn’t even up. I’m sure it’s just getting more and more — that’s all I can say.”

He clarified during the stream to say that it was “a business decision… It’s just consolidating,” and that it was “tough for them.” Another restaurant will replace it with another restaurant.

“You’ll be very happy,” he said.

MassLive reached out to Mazzarella’s office about the closure.

The Google listing for the restaurant said it is “permanently closed.”

As recently as June 12, The Fix was promoting live music shows between the Leominster and Marlborough locations, according to a Facebook post. Musical artist Chris Reddy and band Mr. Strickland were to appear at The Fix in Leominster on June 14 and June 15, respectively.

The Fix Burger Bar in Leominster was one of three located in central Massachusetts, including one in Worcester and another in Marlborough. The Fix Burger Bar, along with Bocado Tapas Bar and Mezcal Tequila Kitchen are all owned by Niche Hospitality Group.

MassLive reached out to Niche Hospitality and the company’s president, Mike Covino, about The Fix’s closure.

Phone calls to the restaurant went unanswered.
