Levelland business hosts cookout to support community after devastating storms
LEVELLAND, Texas (KCBD) – The Levelland community is recovering after storms caused extensive damage earlier this week.
One Levelland business co-owner is hoping to give back to the place, and people, he calls home.
“With what happened yesterday, we just wanted to basically give back to the community,” Clay Hutchinson said. “We were very fortunate to come out pretty much unscathed. So, we just wanted to get out here and help everybody out that needed it.”
Hutch’s Oilfield Supply & Equipment hosted a cookout for those affected by the devastating storms in Levelland.
“We were born and raised here. So, we just, you know, saw this opportunity to give back to the community,” Hutchinson said. “That’s what we wanted to do.”
Levelland, just 30 miles west of Lubbock, has the pride, strength and dedication of a small West Texas community.
“This is small-town stuff. And this is what we, you know, this is what we love,” Hutchinson stated. “And it’s really, it’s a awesome thing to see, when a tragedy like this happens, that the community comes together and really helps each other out. And it’s just- it’s just awesome to see. And yeah, that way we can all be there for each other.”
Hutchinson stated he hopes to influence others to lend a helping hand.
“I hope that this event helps inspire other people in the community to do what they can and help each other out. That way we can all get back open for business,” he said. “We can get roofs on houses, and any help that anybody needs. And I hope that, you know, inspires the town itself to, you know, really come together as one.”
