Levitt AMP Harrisonburg Music Series benefits downtown business

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)—The Levitt AMP Harrisonburg Music Series is back this summer and will benefit local downtown businesses.

The concert series runs from June through September, and it takes place every Wednesday at the Turner Pavillion. It features many food vendors and activities for all ages, attracting crowds each week.

Berneice Rodriguez owns El Paisano Bakery in downtown Harrisonburg and said their business has been slow since the local students left for summer break.

“We make food during the festivals—but it is nothing we sell in our bakery,” Rodriguez said.

El Paisano is one of the onsite vendors for the downtown concert series, but instead of selling pastries, they serve quesadillas and tacos, which Rodriguez says is helping their business during the summer.

“When students are gone, it is something that pushes [our business] up” Rodriguez said.

“This is great for business; this is great for the band, this is great for us,” said regular concert attendee Bruce Albrecht.

El Paisano Bakery is located at 56 E Wolfe St, Harrisonburg, VA 22802.
