LG Just Unveiled the World’s First Bendable Gaming Monitor

LG‘s latest bendable screen is for gamers.

Set to make its debut next month at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the LG UltraGear GX9 series includes the world’s very first bendable gaming monitor, called the 45GX990A. The curved OLED display—with customizable aspect ratios—has an ultra-high 5K2K resolution that can accurately depict rich blacks, vibrant colors, and dynamic brightness levels with pinpoint accuracy, according to a press release from the tech giant. Low blue-light emission coupled with a special coating to mitigate reflections and glare both help to reduce eye strain, optimizing the monitor for comfortable viewing even during extended gameplay.

But of course, the screen’s bendable capabilities are perhaps its biggest draw and no small part of what earned it a CES award for innovation. The monitor resembles a typical thin flatscreen when in its home position, but it can flex its 45-inch body to 900R curvature in the blink of an eye. This quite literally offers gamers more flexibility as they partake in their favorite games and also makes for a level of immersion that is rarely offered by more conventional monitors, the brand says.

But despite its arresting looks and unique pliable body, the screen is far from a gimmick with real performance specs to back up its stylish looks. In addition to lifelike color accuracy and carefully calibrated brightness levels, an upgraded Dual-Mode means users can seamlessly switch between resolution and refresh rate presets, as well as customize the aspect ratio and picture size just as easily. Plus, smart capabilities allow the monitor to function as an entertainment hub that can easily stream content from countless sources.

Other official details concerning the bendable 45GX990A, like the price or commercial release date, remain a mystery. However, the brand’s monitor announced at last year’s CES ultimately retailed for $1,400 while having fewer hertz and other features confirmed for this latest screen, Gizmodo reported. It’s safe to assume the new bendable model will outpace that price.

The 45GX990A innovation comes on the heels of several advancements in screen technology developed by LG. Earlier this month, the Korean tech giant showed off the world’s first transparent TV only weeks after unveiling the world’s first stretchable screen.
