Little League Softball World Series hopes still alive for Washoe All-Stars

Washoe Little League’s softball all-stars fought their way out of the elimination bracket to win the Nevada state title earlier this month. Now, they’ll have to do it again to keep their season alive.

Washoe lost a narrow 2-0 decision on Saturday afternoon against Arizona’s representative, the Willcox Little League All-Stars, on Saturday afternoon in Little League Softball’s West Regional in San Bernardino, California.

Alazay Mozqueda, Makenzie Miller and Reese Matter each picked up singles for Washoe, while Henley Record picked up a stolen base.

Mozqueda, who picked up the win in the state title game on July 9, pitched all six innings for Washoe, giving up two runs on four hits.

Washoe will face Washington Little League of Washington, Utah on Monday afternoon in an elimination game. The game will be broadcast on the ESPN+ video streaming service at 4 p.m.

Washington Little League fell 12-0 to Dublin Little League of Dublin, California on Sunday to fall into the elimination bracket alongside Washoe. A win would put them in another elimination game on Tuesday at noon against either Southern California or Hawaii.

The winner of the West Regional tournament will move on to the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina in August.
