Little League World Series 2024: Friday Scores, Bracket Results and Highlights

The Little League Baseball World Series continued Friday with four games as competitors come one step closer to the 2024 title.
Here’s a rundown of Friday’s action as the LLBWS ramps up to the championship game on Sunday, Aug. 25.

LLWS Round 1 Friday: Schedule and Results
Chinese Taipei v. Australia: 5 p.m. ET, ESPN
Florida v. Washington: 7 p.m. ET, ESPN
Venezuela 10, Mexico 0
After a dominant run to being crowned regional champions of Central America, Venezuela looks like a contender for the country’s third title in tournament history after a convincing 10-0 win over Mexico.
Jhonson Freitez put Venezuela ahead in the top of the first with a three-run home run.
By the third inning, Venezuela had extended the lead to 9-0. The game ended via the mercy rule in the fourth inning.
Mexico will get another chance to remain in the tournament with a win in an elimination game against Puerto Rico or Canada on Sunday. Venezuela will meanwhile move on in the winner’s bracket to face Japan on Monday.
Hawaii 5, Illinois 0
Hawaii became the first team from the United States bracket to win two games with a 5-0 shutout of Illinois.
Evan Tavares capped off a strong performance on the mound with an RBI hit in the third inning, which sent three runners home and gave Hawaii a convincing four-run lead.
Hawaii also won Wednesday against New England. The West regional champions will now advance to face Nevada, while Illinois will take on South Dakota or New York in the elimination bracket.
