Little League World Series 2024: Latest Schedule, TV Info and Bracket Predictions
Following Wednesday’s games, we know two of the teams who will compete for their bracket’s championship.
Chinese-Taipei out of the Asia-Pacific Region advanced to the International Championship Game by defeating Japan. The most dominant team in this tournament faced a tougher challenge, exhausting ace Lai Cheng-Xi, who threw 65 pitches by the top of the third inning.
Ciou Zhi-Kai maintained the lead, fighting off baserunners on first and second and getting out of the inning.
The team took a three-run lead on a Hu Yen-Chun double. Japan answered with its first run of the game but could not author a comeback as Chinese-Taipei cashed its ticket to the title game.
In the United States bracket, Texas survived a hairy start to its game against Nevada in which it walked in a run to bring the score to 2-1. The Mountain Region representative tied the game at two, and it appeared things would be closer than anticipated.
Mishandling of a throw by their opponents to the north allowed Texas to take a 3-2 lead and they never looked back. Texas poured on three more runs and secured the 5-2 win, ensuring its spot in the US finale.
The two teams will discover their opponents in the high-stakes matchups on Thursday.
Nevada will battle Florida, fresh off a victory that eliminated Hawaii from the tournament, while Japan faces the Latin America Region squad.
Both games could set up rematches of Wednesday’s games, with a much grander prize in store for the winner: A date in the Little League World Series Championship.
