Sunday was elimination day at the 2024 Little League Baseball World Series.

All four games on the schedule were win-or-go-home contests with two in the United States bracket and two in the International bracket. It all built toward the MLB Little League Classic at Williamsport’s Historic Bowman Field between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers.

The now-annual MLB game helps the Little League players connect with the game’s highest level, but first, there was plenty of pressure in their own games.

Here is a look at the schedule and results for Sunday.

Sunday Schedule and Results

  • New York defeats Illinois, 4-0
  • Mexico vs. Canada, 8-0
  • Washington vs. Pennsylvania, 1 p.m. ET
  • Australia vs. Aruba, 2 p.m. ET

New York defeats Illinois, 4-0

Sunday belonged to Vin Ruggiero and Dean Scarangello for New York in a 4-0 victory over Illinois.

Ruggiero pitched five shoutout innings and was helped by some impressive defense behind him. He didn’t need much run support, but New York provided plenty with a four-run fourth inning.

Scarangello’s two-RBI single to the opposite field was the highlight of the rally that also saw Chace Curro and Alex Torres drive in runs.

Scarangello wasn’t done, as he took the mound in the sixth inning and preserved the shutout to keep New York’s Little League Baseball World Series hopes alive.

Mexico defeats Canada, 8-0

New York wasn’t the only team to win via shutout during Sunday’s action.

Mexico preserved its championship hopes with an 8-0 win over Canada. The victors wasted no time setting the tone with three runs in the first inning thanks in large part to a two-RBI hit from Luis Longoria.

That was enough with Raul Hernandez Jr. on the mound, and the pitcher also helped his own cause with an RBI triple in the third inning. He also worked into the third inning on the mound without giving up a hit before turning the ball over to the bullpen.

Canada never truly threatened down the stretch as Mexico secured the win.
