RISON – The annual Cleveland County Fair is underway this week at the fairgrounds in Rison with live performances, bingo and other games beginning Thursday, Sept. 12, before leading up to the Rison Barbeque Cook Off and Cleveland County Fair Pageants on Saturday, Sept. 14.In addition, fair exhibits and livestock can be viewed through Saturday.According to Fair President Roy Phillips, the county fair saw seen a steady stream of entries being brought in Tuesday. Judging was held Wednesday morning before opening to the public for viewing Wednesday afternoon.The Exhibit Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13; and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 Throughout the exhibit hall, attendees will have the opportunity to register for drawings of a variety of prizes, including cash.The Cleveland County Livestock Show will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.Games and ActivitiesThis year’s fair will include bingo on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 12-13; plus live music and games with The Kinders on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 8:30 a.m. Smokey the Bear will also make an appearance.Friday, Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will offer free hot dogs and homemade ice cream for senior citizens and Veterans.Saturday will include a game day with bounce houses and dunking booth during the Rison BBQ Cook Off, leading up to the County Fair Queen Pageants and Talent Contest.Laura Caroline will also perform at the fairgrounds Saturday at 11 a.m. during the Cook Off.PageantsThe Cleveland County Youth Pageant will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, with the Cleveland County Fair Queen and Junior Fair Queen Pageant and Talent Contest at 5 p.m.The deadline to enter the pageant is Thursday, Sept. 12.
