LMU Ranks Among Nation’s Top Colleges, Earning High Marks for Business and Engineering Programs – Loyola Marymount University Newsroom
Loyola Marymount University improved its rank among the nation’s premier colleges and universities and earned stellar grades for its business and engineering programs in the latest edition of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges.
LMU ranks 91st nationally – up two places from last year – and 47th among the country’s top private schools. The university placed 6th among California’s private colleges, and 5th among the country’s 27 Jesuit institutions.
LMU’s undergraduate business program soared seven places in the new Best Colleges guide, to No. 77. LMU College of Business Administration earned an admirable five “top 30” rankings – for entrepreneurship, No. 12; international business, No. 15; analytics, No. 18; marketing, No. 19; and finance, No. 30. The accounting program climbed an impressive 15 spots, to No. 31. LMU’s undergraduate engineering program maintained its No. 23 rank from last year.
LMU was again lauded for the quality of its instruction, landing at No. 31 nationally for best undergraduate teaching, and was named the 53rd “most innovative” school, and the 57th best college for veterans.
These high scores come despite wholesale changes in rankings methodologies last year that adversely impacted mid-tier private universities across the country and created upheaval among the ranks. This was especially true for most Jesuit universities, where an emphasis on smaller class sizes, social justice missions, and the liberal arts helped LMU in the previous methodology.
Since its 2019 debut on U.S. News and World Report’s national college listing, LMU has placed in the top 100 for six consecutive years.
In the recently released Princeton Review Best Colleges rankings, LMU earned the No. 11 spot for “Best Library” and was No. 23 for “Most Beautiful Campus.” The Hollywood Reporter last month ranked LMU School of Film and Television 5th among the country’s top 26 film schools, up from No. 8 last year.
