Local business cleans up ‘Corridor of Cruelty’ area where 4 dogs were found dumped in garbage bags
HOUSTON – “It lives up to its name, the “Corridor of Cruelty,” said JaNell Mitchell.
She and her son visit the northeast side area daily to feed homeless dogs.

Last week, four cases of suspected animal abuse involving dogs in trash bags. They were dumped in the area.
“It’s a dumping ground,” JaNell said. “They dump live dogs, they dump dead dogs here.”
“I’m a very spiritual person, and I do believe this is God’s Earth, it should still remain clean regardless of who does or who does what,” said Jonathan Johnson, owner of Jack of All Tradez.

He and his crew spent hours Monday clearing the debris-filled mess for free. It was far from being an easy job.
“But we had to get it done,” said Jonathan’s father, Carl Johnson.
People who live and travel in the area were thankful for the makeover.
“Driving up, giving us thank you very much for what you’re doing, it’s been a long time coming,” Carl said.
“It’s funny, one lady just pulled up and said, “I love you,” and I was like, OK,” said Jonathan. “But I understood what she was saying, the look of the community matters.”
“Believe it or not, when the trash is picked up you do not see as much dumping dead dogs or live dogs,” said JaNell. “It’s when there’s a lot of trash lying around they start adding to it.”
