Local teams hit the hardwood in volleyball action Saturday
The Dickinson girls volleyball team traveled to Minot High in Western Dakota Association (WDA) action among the top teams in the standings. The two teams were unbeaten with Bismarck Century atop the standings before the start of the action. The outcome of the game would lift one team to the top and land the other in third place with the first WDA loss.
Minot High would be that top team.
Minot High 3, Dickinson 2
Dickinson won the first frame 27-25 despite the Majettes leading as the teams approached the 20 point mark. The second frame went to Minot High 27-25 for the 1-1 tie. The Midgets beat the Majettes 25-22 in the third frame and the Majettes returned the favor 25-20 in the fourth outing to tie the contest at 2-2 as they entered the fifth frame.
Minot High took the 15-12 win for the 3-2 victory in the end and climbed atop the standings.
Leah Walter had 13 kills while Everet Deschamp added 12 in the win. Kynsli Gillmore and Sydney Aberle each added 11 kills for Minot High as well.
Eve Knutson had three blocks while MacKenzie Dufner had 50 assists for the Majettes. Raegan Terrel led the team in digs with 22 while Nicole Couture added 18 for the Majettes.
Minot High (5-0, 6-5) travels to Bismarck High (3-1, 5-5) on Thursday, September 19, for their next game.
Hi-Liner Classic Volleyball Tournament
VALLEY CITY — The girls volleyball team from Our Redeemer’s Christian School (ORCS) made the trip to Valley City to participate in a five game tournament for some court time. The Knights record for the event was 3-1-1 for the day.

The Knights were led by Tavia Carlson with 25 kills while Mikayla Altringer added 22 in the contests. Grace Olson recorded 86 assists while Olivia Ebel had 41 and Tavia Carlson had 38 digs for the team. Altringer and Lauren Strom added six blocks apiece in the win. Olivia Ebel had seven aces while Olson added five for Our Redeemer’s.
The Knights will travel to play at North Star High School on Tuesday next.
