Local travel agent arrested and indicted for theft

Body

Southeast Texas Travel Agent Emily Lockard-Furry was arrested Tuesday, June 18, and charged with theft by deception, following the meeting of the Jefferson County Grand Jury today.

Lockard-Furry, who operates Traveluxe Official, is accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from Southeast Texas clients as well as several out of state, and offering them nothing in return for their vacation payments.

Since Lockard-Furry’s actions became public via a viral social media post by Cydni Stegall and gained traction from several local media outlets, she and husband Russ began issuing refunds.

However, according to the District Attorney’s Office, refunds do not negate the criminal aspect of the alleged crime.

Lockard-Furry is currently being held at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where bond is pending.
