Long-standing Grandview, Mo., business set to close at end of month

GRANDVIEW, Mo. (KCTV) – It’s the end of an era for Gail Worth, owner of Gail’s Harley Davidson in Grandview, Missouri, after a quarter of a century in business.

“This dealership has a heartbeat that no other dealership in the nation has,” Worth said.

On Saturday, June 8, Worth held her final “Gailapalooza,” a free motorcycle festival she has held to show her appreciation to her customers throughout the years. The event featured live music, food trucks and biker games.

Throughout her time, Worth said she has donated around $2 million to charitable causes in the KC metro. Before she rode off into the sunset, she had to host one more Gailapalooza. The decision to close came after the diagnosis and death of a friend.

“The week before he passed, he said, ‘Hey, you’ve been thinking about retiring for some time… take my word for it, if you want to do it, do it now. Because one year ago, I didn’t realize that I would be dying next week. You have one life to live. Do it now.’”

Worth is set to say her final farewell to the 25-year-old business on June 29 or until she runs out of inventory. Gail’s Harley Davidson is located at 5900 Highway 50 in Grandview.
