Texas led the U.S. in job growth in march, breaking records for jobs and the states labor force, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

Last month, Texas again surpassed all previous records it broke for having the greatest number of total jobs, the greatest number of Texans working, and the largest labor force in state history.

The Lone Star State led the nation with the largest absolute over-the-year increase in nonfarm employment with a 2-percent annual growth rate. It outpaced the U.S. rate by 0.1 percent. In march alone, 19,100 jobs were added in Texas.

The Texas seasonally adjusted civilian labor force grew over the month by 20,800 people to reach 15,189,900 in March. This included the addition of 12,100 employed Texans over the month. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate registered at 3.9 percent for the 10th consecutive month while showing a drop from the 4.0-percent unemployment rate from March 2023.

“Texas continues to be a top place for growth and economic success with thousands of jobs added by employers in March,” TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel said. “Our world class workforce of talented Texans attracts employers from many expanding industries.”
