She doesn’t understand why passengers stand up as soon as the plane lands.

The experienced traveller has witnessed this behaviour at every destination she’s been to.

Unless you are “connecting to your next flight” there should be no reason for standing, according to Shay.

“The door hasn’t even opened yet,” she added.

Shay explained how passengers who have to collect a bag will end up waiting in baggage reclaim regardless.

It drives me nuts

The luggage designer admitted she is always the last one left on the plane.

She said: “If I have a checked bag—and I always do—I’m going to have to wait for it anyway.”

Unlike Shay, most travellers race to the front of the plane only to stand an extra 15 minutes while the crew prepare for deboarding.

“It drives me nuts,” she added.

The successful luggage designer isn’t the only one who has urged travellers to remain seated when the plane lands.

A travel expert warned jet-setters to be more aware of their surroundings.

What NOT to wear on a plane

The travel expert wrote in the Boston Globe: “This is something that continues to baffle me.

As if standing will get the ground crew to move the bridge to the plane faster.”

It takes around 20 minutes before people can leave the aircraft.

However, some passengers may feel the need to stand up to stretch their legs.

The travel expert recognises this and recommends travellers stretch their legs once they’ve landed but be sure to sit back down, “relax and stay out of the aisle”.

However, this passenger sparked an online debate after he shared a video of herself sitting in a plane seat after her flight had touched down.

In her TikTok video, Batsheva Haart, who starred in the reality series My Unorthodox Life, bragged about how patient she was.

She said: “Sitting in my seat instead of standing up until it’s my row’s turn to deplane.”

The video has been seen more than 2million times, with some people not impressed with her willingness to remain seated.

One argued: “Some of us stand to stretch our backs.

“Has nothing to do with getting off sooner and hurts absolutely no one.”

Another said: “I stand up early because I get stressed about my overhead bag and holding everyone up.”

A third added: “I wanna get out of there ASAP so I don’t have to wait behind a million goons at immigration.”

It comes after a flight attendant revealed the “evil” thing passengers do on planes that could ruin people’s luggage.

And these travel experts have shared their top tips on how to bag yourself a luxury room.
