Luzerne County libraries benefit from gambling funds with large grants

State Representative Eddie Pashinski and State Senator Marty Flynn headed to two libraries in Luzerne County to present checks.

The first check presentation was to Osterhout Free Library of Wilkes-Barre for $131,000., and the other was the Bishop Memorial Library, which received $150,000.

“We were able to garner enough dollars that we were able to fund about 25 different projects here in Luzerne County and that money comes from the gambling money that our residences contribute to. But now we’re attracting people from New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and it’s been very profitable and very helpful to us,” said State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski.

“The greatest feeling I get is when you can help someone then you feel as though you’re doing your job so this is very gratifying for the Senator, the Mayor, myself, anytime we can help someone,” he added.

Osterhout Free Library says they will be using the funds to put in a family restroom to support their children’s wing.
