MacPaw Launches CleanMyMac Business For SMBs

Software that cleans and protects Macs gets hard press from a lot of Mac enthusiasts who insist macOS is self-healing and doesn’t need a utility like CleanMyMac from MacPaw, the Ukraine-based developer that’s been in business for 20 years.

I would like to beg to differ with the enthusiasts. I’ve been using CleanMyMac for almost a decade and it’s been invaluable for clearing out unwanted log files and other clutter. It’s also great for uninstalling software and for tracking down the big files that take up a lot of space on your Mac’s drive.

CleanMyMac is also a good defense against malware and although I have had very few problems with my Mac, the software did identify a malware called Silver Sparrow that I picked up for a keyboard definition file just the other day. CleanMyMac got rid of the malware and I am glad I had it running on my Mac.

MacPaw has now announced that it is launching an enterprise version of CleanMyMac for companies that run a fleet of Macs. Harnessing the same technology that powers the consumer version, CleanMyMac Business is MacPaw’s latest software that simplifies Mac fleet maintenance for organizations and managed service providers.

CleanMyMac Business is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses and managed service providers. It’s a centralized solution that simplifies the maintenance of multiple Macs. In many smaller organizations that have a few Macs, the responsibility for IT often falls to a single person because the organization can’t afford a dedicated IT manager.

While these organizations need effective Mac maintenance and security, their requirements might not justify the costs and complexity of an enterprise-grade MDM package, leaving them with few options to suit their needs.

MacPaw says it has surveyed nearly 400 IT specialists and 41% of administrators supervise their organization’s Mac devices because they are deemed the most tech-savvy team members, often without the time, budget or specialized tools to streamline the process.

CleanMyMac Business is software that can bridge this gap by providing essential Mac maintenance and security in a tool that’s accessible, affordable and doesn’t require extensive technical knowledge or large IT teams. For smaller companies, CleanMyMac Business enables non-IT professionals to see the Macs on their network and then perform centralized maintenance and security tasks easily.

“We’ve seen firsthand how CleanMyMac significantly improves the performance and productivity of individual Macs. With CleanMyMac Business, we’re scaling that impact to entire organizations,” says Oleksandr Kosovan, Founder and CEO of MacPaw. “Beyond performance, this solution brings essential benefits like threat protection and streamlined software updates, helping companies strengthen their security posture and maintain compliance effortlessly. Our mission is to empower businesses to operate more efficiently and securely, ensuring their teams can focus on what truly matters.”

Managed Service Providers play an important role in providing IT services to businesses of all sizes, including SMBs that may lack an in-house IT department. CleanMyMac Business can help an MSP by providing services that may complement existing MDM platforms with tools for maintenance and security.

While MDM platforms focus on advanced device management, CleanMyMac Business provides tools like malware protection, disk cleaning and device health monitoring. These functions make it an ideal add-on to existing setups, with many CleanMyMac Business beta users using the software alongside their existing MDMs. This combination allows MSPs to deliver more comprehensive support, whether serving small businesses or larger organizations, helping clients maintain optimized and secure their Mac fleets.

“Many traditional MDM tools run silently on devices, leaving users unaware of what actions admins could be taking on their devices,” says Pavlo Bogachevskyi, Product Marketing Manager at MacPaw. “CMM Business takes a different approach- it operates quietly in the background, but users can see any tasks or actions that administrators initiate. This creates trust while enabling admins to communicate directly with users about how to properly care for their devices.”

CleanMyMac Business is being touted as an ideal solution for many industries, from MSPs and technology companies to educational institutions and advertising agencies where Macs are more prevalent. The software’s core features include an intuitive admin dashboard that can monitor the overall status of a Mac fleet, showing individual device details, and security compliance from a single, user-friendly interface.

Mac Health Score can quickly show the aggregated performance and security score for each Mac in a fleet. Meanwhile, maintenance automation configures schedules or can manually initiate maintenance tasks, including disk cleaning, app updates and more. CleanMyMac Business also includes a disk cleaner that can remove the digital clutter that takes up free space. It also eliminates app leftovers and unwanted cache files to speed up a Mac fleet.

Although Macs don’t suffer the same kind of malware and viruses that PCs do, the prevalence is on the increase as the popularity of Macs increases. Malware protection can Identify malicious agents and safeguard an organization’s Macs using Moonlock’s malware monitoring and protection system.

CleanMyMac Business can be used as a standalone Mac fleet monitoring and maintenance solution or integrate seamlessly into existing MDM setups, adding an extra layer of security and maintenance without requiring additional complexity or overhead.

Pricing & Availability: CleanMyMac Business is available now on the MacPaw website. A two-week free trial is also available, allowing users to onboard up to 30 Macs without requiring a credit card.
