Macy’s Taps New Jewelry Brands for Fashion Week

Macy’s is planning a special project for New York Fashion Week that includes adding new jewelry brands and exclusive products.

The company will implement the project across several categories at its Bloomingdale’s brand, it said Wednesday.

“In the next few weeks, Bloomingdale’s will kick off the New York Fashion Week with a two-month long immersive experience that brings the best of Italy to its customers through over 300 exclusive products and 30 new brands across apparel, fine jewelry, accessories, beauty and home,” Macy’s CEO Tony Spring said in an earnings call transcribed by The Motley Fool.

The project will include a celebration at all Bloomingdale’s locations, as well as special shops, installations and popups for those segments, Spring explained.

Meanwhile, Macy’s lowered its guidance for the full fiscal year after lower-than-expected revenue in the second quarter amid a “challenging environment” with selective shoppers and more promotions, the retailer said. The company now expects sales to be between $22.1 billion and $22.4 billion for the year, compared with the original forecast of $22.3 billion to $22.9 billion.

Revenue for the second quarter fell 3.8% year on year to $4.94 billion for the three months that ended August 3. Profit was $150 million, versus a loss of $22 million for the same period a year ago.
