Maddie’s Motor Sports to open new location, replacing Ithaca Recreation in Newfield
Looking for some outdoor gear this year?
A new outdoor recreation shop will open in place of Newfield’s Ithaca Recreation, keeping employees and other assets from the former powersport dealer.
Maddie’s Motor Sports has connected people to motorsports gear in Rochester, Buffalo and Spencerport for years as the largest power sports dealership group in New York, and is now expanding to the Finger Lakes.
“Ithaca Recreation is highly regarded as one of the oldest and well known powersports dealerships in the Finger Lakes region,” Graham Marcus, Maddie’s Vice President, said in a Saturday statement.
Marcus said the former recreation store helped to pioneer many local races each year and helped to create the New York Offroad Association.
“Their dedication to the powersports industry has helped them build a strong base of loyal customers over the past 30-plus years in the area.”
More on Maddie’s, what’s left of Ithaca Rec?

Marcus hopes to retain customers at the location by offering Sea-Doo watercraft at Maddie’s Ithaca this summer. The craft were a major draw to Ithaca Recreation during the summer in previous years, as it is one of the few locations in the area that sold and serviced the vehicles.
He announced that five additional people have been hired to manage Maddie’s along with the retained staff from Ithaca Recreation.
Maddie’s was founded in 2012, offering parts, services, accessories and apparel for use with the motorcycles and powersport vehicles available for purchase there from 15 well-known manufacturers, including Indian Motorcycle, Polaris, Can Am, KTM, Kawasaki, Sea-Doo, and Yamaha.
The company has developed a large network since, operating in Dansville, Farmington, Hamburg, Spencerport, Pheonix, before announcing the expansion to Newfield, NY.
