Madison man arrested in five business break-ins, police report

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A Madison man accused of breaking into five businesses in the city was arrested in Rusk County, police confirmed Tuesday.

MPD reported investigators in its Burglary Crime Unit linked the 37-year-old man to multiple break-ins between mid- and late-January.

Police listed where the break-ins occurred:

  • Three businesses were located on Monroe Street
  • One business was located on the 400 block of W. Gilman Street
  • One business was located on the 2400 block of University Avenue.

MPD’s initial report stated police were investigating a break-in to the Gilman Street business the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 31. The front door of the restaurant was broken and cash register trays were stolen.

The police department’s report did not say what day the man was arrested or what charges he could face.
