Mahershala Ali in talks to join new Jurassic World film

Mahershala Ali could soon pay a visit to Isla Nublar as reports suggest that the Oscar-winning actor is in talks to star in the new Jurassic World sequel. The film is currently in the development stage at Universal.

If all goes through, Mahershala will join an ensemble cast which includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Rupert Friend.

New Jurassic World film to kickstart a trilogy

The plot details of the film have been kept under wraps but reports suggest that it will kickstart a new trilogy following three Jurassic Park and three Jurassic World films. In 2022, Jurassic World Dominion wrapped up the trilogy with $1 billion globally.

The yet-to-be-titled film will have Gareth Edwards helming the feature. It is written by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.

The film is being made for theatres and Universal plans to release the action-adventure on July 2, 2025.

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World happen to be the biggest things that Universal has laid its hands on. It was with Steven Spielberg in 1994 (Jurassic Park) that Universal established its biggest property which continues to resonate with the studio’s name. Jurassic Park is not only a successful film franchise but also inspires park rides and toys worldwide.

The new instalment will have Steven Spielberg on board as the executive producer through Amblin Entertainment. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce through Kennedy-Marshall.  Universal’s executive VP of production development Sara Scott and creative executive of production development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the studio.
