Man arrested for attempted murder in connection to NW Bakersfield shopping center shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was arrested for attempted murder following a shooting at a northwest Bakersfield shopping center on Saturday that wounded a person.

Kern County sheriff’s deputies were called to a shopping center at the corner of Rosedale Highway and Allen Road at around 6:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

A man was found suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds, sheriff’s officials said. The victim’s wounds were described as severe and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

KCSO said Shawn Brown, 45, was arrested a few blocks from the scene and booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility for multiple charges. Brown was booked on several gun charges, assault with a firearm and attempted murder, inmate records show.

Brown is being held on $592,500 bail. He is due in court Tuesday.
