Man arrested in connection to business theft in flood-affected area in Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Asheville Police Department said a man was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a business theft that occurred in a flood-affected area.
Officers were conducting crime prevention on Riverside Drive on Thursday, Jan. 2, when an officer found a vehicle parked behind a business in the 500 block at around 2:20 p.m.
An investigation revealed the identity of the occupant as 47-year-old Jeremy David Waldrop.
According to police, Waldrop was found to be in possession of property that was reported stolen from a nearby business on the morning of Jan. 2.
He was also found to be in possession of illegal narcotics during his arrest, police said.
He was charged with felony possession of stolen property and felony possession of schedule II.
The arrest follows Waldrop’s most recent encounter with law enforcement on December 29, 2024, when he was arrested for first degree trespassing and tampering with a vehicle in addition to five open warrants for larceny and failure to appear for larceny.
Waldrop was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,000 unsecured bond issued by a magistrate.
