Man guilty of murder in 2019 shooting death at Tuskegee business

A man was convicted on murder and other charges Wednesday in the 2019 shooting death of another man at a Tuskegee business, prosecutors announced Thursday.

A Macon County jury convicted Maurice Demond Davis of murder and felon in possession of a firearm after just 53 minutes of deliberations, 5th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Seagrest’s office said in a Facebook post.

Davis was accused of shooting and killing MiKayce Parker, 26, of Midland, during an argument as a venue formerly known as Busy Bees in Tuskegee, the office said.

Davis is scheduled to be sentenced for his crimes on May 9.

Seagrest’s office is asking for Davis to be sentenced as a habitual offender because Davis had three prior felonies.
