Man shot by police in Portage business park

PORTAGE, Ind. — A man was shot by police in a Portage business park Tuesday morning.

Portage police was dispatched to a business park in the 1200 block of Marine View Drive just after 11:20 a.m. Tuesday for a well-being check.

Police said a male subject was located with a firearm. At some point, the man sustained a single gunshot wound and police said the shooting was officer-involved.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital and his condition was not provided.

Just before 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, Portage police requested that the Porter County Sheriff’s Office investigate the shooting.

The involved officer and the male’s identity will be released at a later date, according to police.

Police did not provide additional details surrounding the incident when asked by WGN News.
