Manchester United stuns Man City with last-minute 2-1 win to take Manchester Derby

On Sunday, Manchester United snapped a two-game losing streak in spectacular fashion, coming from behind to defeat Manchester City in the longstanding rivalry game.

The match, which started as a rather boring edition of the Manchester Derby, took a stunning turn as Man United scored two goals in the final three minutes of regulation to take a 2-1 lead.

Manchester City controlled much of the game, with defender Joško Gvardiol heading in the opening goal off a set piece in the 36th minute. But United came back strong in those final minutes to nab the win.

Man United’s tying goal came in the 88th minute off a penalty kick from Bruno Fernandes. Man City defender Matheus Nunes made two significant errors leading up to the kick, first attempting a bad pass that was intercepted by United forward Amad Diallo, and then fouling Diallo in the box in his rush to make up for the mistake.

Diallo had the last laugh, sprinting through Man City’s defense to score the winner in the 90th minute, getting a beautiful touch that went over the head of City goalkeeper Ederson and deftly crossing the ball into the goal for the win.

With the loss, Manchester City has now lost five of their last seven games, and has also been struggling immensely in UEFA Champions League play.
