A Guide to Mandarin Oriental’s First Hotel in Greece
When Mandarin Oriental opened its first property in Greece, it didn’t look to Mykonos, Santorini or any of the other glamour islands on the Aegean. Rather, the hotel is located on the chic Costa Navarino in the Messenia region of the southwest Peloponnese. The 99 suites and villas are built into the side of the hill, with green roofs that make the resort appear to blend into the landscape. While the Costa Navarino summer season is long—spanning from April through November—longtime Forbes travel contributor Ann Abel notes that the Greek summer is not: so bring a sweater.

Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who has a net worth of $163.7 billion, added a new trophy property to his enormous real estate portfolio, which Forbes estimated at more than $1 billion in 2021. Earlier this month, Ellison purchased the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, a 309-room luxury beachfront hotel for a price believed to be north of $300 million. The eight-acre resort has 309 rooms, nine restaurants and bars, two swimming pools, tennis courts, a 42,000-square-foot spa and 32,000 square feet of meeting space. And it’s just 7 miles away from Mar-a-Lago.
