Mark Cuban says he doesn’t hate Donald Trump, he just thinks the man was and will be a ‘lousy president’

Mark Cuban is backing Vice President Kamala Harris this election, but the billionaire says he doesn’t hate her opponent, former President Donald Trump.

The “Shark Tank” star has been a vocal critic of the Republican nominee’s candidacy and policies. This includes Trump’s planned tariffs on US imports, which Cuban has said will burden businesses.

But criticizing Trump, Cuban said, didn’t mean he hates the man.

“I truly don’t hate him at all. I just think he was and would be a lousy president,” Cuban wrote in an X post on Thursday after he was asked by an X user with the handle @Rene.

“If he wasn’t running, I would be happy to take up his dinner invitation from when he was in office,” Cuban added.

To be sure, Cuban has been clear that he hasn’t always been against Trump.

Cuban said in an August interview with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy that he “actually started off supporting” Trump.

“I was like, he’s great; he’s not a typical Stepford candidate. I thought that was a positive,” Cuban said of Trump.

“But then I got to know him,” Cuban added.

Cuban told Ramaswamy he started to sour on Trump once he took a closer look at the former president’s business and political record.

“The bigger point is Trump University. Trump SoHo. Stole $4 million from a friend of mine that had to sue to get it back. Mike Pence,” Cuban said, referencing the various controversies surrounding Trump’s real-estate training program, luxury hotel, and strained relationship with his vice president.

“He was unethical then, and he’s still unethical,” Cuban added.

Representatives for Cuban and the Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment sent outside regular business hours.
