Mark My Words, This Tweed Dress from Tuckernuck Will Be *the* Frock of Fall

The style is striking for its swingy, ‘60s-esque A-line silhouette that, based on its more than 900 5-star reviews, has proven flattering on all sorts of body types (including my 5-foot-1 frame). Because of its shape, however, which flares out toward the hem to provide quite a roomy fit, the dress does run a bit large. I’m usually a medium in clothing, but after peeping the size guide, I went for the small. Since trying it on, I think I even could’ve gotten away with the XS, which is almost never a thought that I have while shopping.

To be safe, I do recommend going down just one size if you want a slimmer, but not too-tight fit. I like that mine hugs at my chest, then leaves plenty of space for me to breathe without feeling constricted, even if it’s not as body-skimming as the dresses I typically wear. Tuckernuck does offer free returns within 30 days, though, so you can try a few different sizes if you’re unsure, then send the rest back (just make sure the color is not on sale and can be returned).

In addition to its shape, the frock stands out for its adorable braided accents at the neckline and at the hips, which create the look of a pocket, complete with gold buttons. Unfortunately, those aren’t functional pockets, which may be my main complaint about this otherwise on-the-(old)-money style. While I was wearing it, I kept instinctively putting my hands there to tuck them in, to no avail. If this style ever gets a revamp, I do hope that pockets are on the docket.
