Marquette kids celebrate world kindness day
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Kids at the Marquette Kids Club celebrated World Kindness Day Wednesday.
Children frosted cupcakes and decorated pictures of themselves.
Kids and parents acted out the day’s message too: part of this celebration was a toy drive for Anchor Church’s Christmas sale.
The kids have been practicing kindness this past fall. When one of the children did an act of kindness, the teachers would fill in a heart on a poster. All 100 hearts were filled in Wednesday.
Rebecca Flitton, who co-teaches one of the club’s classrooms, says she hopes the children understand how easy kindness is to implement.
“What we really want the children to take away from today, and everything we’ve been doing, is that kindness doesn’t take much effort,” Flitton said. “It’s just something that once you understand what it is, it’s easy to do. Sharing a toy, comforting a friend when they’re sad. It’s those little, little things that can really make a difference for someone’s day.”
Flitton encouraged children and adults to practice kindness in their day-to-day lives.
