Martha Stewart, 83, Prepped For Her ‘Sports Illustrated’ Cover With This Popular Workout

Martha Stewart has long been a staple of American culture. But her new Netflix documentary Martha sheds fresh light on the lifestyle guru’s personal life.

In it, fans watch Martha open up about her struggles as a young mom, the pain of her divorce, and the insider trading scandal that led to jail time. But plenty of people have also noticed just how fit and glowy the 83-year-old looks right now.

Martha seems to be at the top of her fitness game right now, having even posed for Sports Illustrated last year. So, what does Martha do for workouts? Here’s what she’s shared.

Martha does Pilates three times a week.

Martha likes to squeeze in an early-morning workout. That means she’s out of the house for a Pilates class by 6:15 a.m. three times a week, she shared with Women’s Health last year.

“[The instructor and I] are the only people in the [studio] at that time,” Martha said. “Nobody else gets up that early.”

In January, Martha shared a video on Instagram of herself crushing a Pilates workout on the reformer. “Harder and more effective than it looks!!” she wrote in the caption.

She’s also a fan of yoga.

In addition to Pilates, Martha loves doing yoga, adding that she’s a “firm believer” in exercise.

“I love practicing yoga to keep my muscles long, limber, and flexible, and I also work out at least three times a week with my trainer, Mary Tedesco, who shows up bright and early at the farm,” she wrote in a 2012 blog post.

She’s active on her farm.

While Martha does structured exercise, she’s also super active around her farm. “I’m a micromanager. It’s a major problem,” she told WH. “Just getting around from place to place on the farm and making sure the gardening is being done and the animals are taken care of [is a lot of exercise].”

Martha also has a home gym with a bunch of weight machines, free weights, and a treadmill, according to her blog post. She also rides horses, which is known to strengthen your core and booty.

She makes healthy habits simple.

After her Sports Illustrated cover, people flooded the comments of Martha’s Instagrams with questions about how she looks so great in her 80s. In the comments of one post, she wrote, “Eating very well Pilates three x week. Horseback ride at least once a week. No smoking. Little drinking green juice daily.”

Martha later shared her green juice recipe on TikTok, which includes pear, celery, cucumber, parsley, ginger, and orange.

Naturally, Martha also makes a lot of her own food. She likes to kick off her day with a green juice and cappuccino, followed by homemade Greek yogurt with honey (or oats and a bowl of skim milk) for breakfast, she told WH.

Lunch is usually grabbed on-the-go and may include oshinko (pickled veggies), oshitashi (spinach salad), and miso soup, along with sushi.

She also grows a lot of her own produce at home—and regularly shares the results on Instagram.

She’s living well and at the top of her game—we love to see it!
