Atlanta United finished their two game homestand against Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF with one point. Despite the results, they do have a bit of momentum to carry into the match against New York. Atlanta showed some fight in the match against Miami, overcoming two deficits to walk away with a 2-2 draw. The two summer acquisitions for the 5-Stripes, Alexey Miranchuk and Pedro Amador, both shined in the match against Miami and continue to acclimate to MLS play. Atlanta sits at 11th in the Eastern Conference, but they are only one point behind Philadelphia Union, who sit at ninth with 33 points.

New York Red Bulls started the season strong, accumulating points during several winning streaks. There has been a slight dip in play as of late; New York Red Bulls have not won since MLS returned following the Leagues Cup break. Their most recent loss to the Chicago Fire extended their winless streak to four games. New York now sits in fifth in the Eastern Conference with 43 points.

Atlanta United have a record of 2-10-4 against New York Red Bulls. One of those 10 wins for New York was the last matchup between the two clubs; New York Red Bulls scored four unanswered goals to give them the win.

Saba Lobjanidze (Atlanta United) – A consistent difference maker for the 5-Stripes this season has been Saba Lobjanidze.
