Maya Jama just referenced the sexiest naked dress of the 90s
Wake up girlies, the MTV EMAs are here!!!
Another awards show is upon us as the European Music Awards touch down in Manchester for a celebration of all things music and a slew of performances from celebs like Tyla, Raye and Shawn Mendes.
But if you’re anything like us, the main highlight of the evening is deffo the red carpet style! And we’re pleased to inform you that our fave stars did not disappoint.
Setting the tone was the evening’s host Rita Ora, who had jaws dropping all over the UK thanks to her dramatic entrance look: a plunging gown which appeared to be embellished with strawberry blonde hair extensions (j’adore).
Another star shutting down the red carpet? Love Island host Maya Jama, who took the chance to reference Liz Hurley’s most iconic look ever.
Stepping out in a sleek black dress with a sweetheart neckline, huuuge side slit and gold safety pin embellishments up the side and over the straps, Maya was wearing a vintage Versace S/S 1994 dress styled by Rhea Francois and reportedly from Studded Petals Vintage.
The look was clearly paying homage to Liz’s outfit to the 1994 premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, a look which was so revolutionary at the time that it launched her into the public eye and became known solely as ‘THAT dress’.
In recent years, the outfit has been recreated by some of our celeb faves including Anne Hathaway, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, either via stylists procuring the original dress (we loooove vintage) or thanks to more recent iterations of the dress, such as the versions which graced the Versace runway at Milan Fashion Week in September 2021.
Too iconic for words!
