‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Official Season 3 Trailer Shows Jeremy Renner Back in Business
Jeremy Renner looks like he hasn’t lost a step in the first full official trailer for the long-awaited third season of Mayor of Kingstown.
Below, Renner is back in business as a Michigan crime boss in the Paramount+ series, which is from co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon.
The season marks Renner’s acting comeback following his near-fatal 2023 New Year’s Day snowplow accident. Renner returned to set one year after he was critically injured after being run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat at his home in Reno, Nevada. He had broken 38 bones and his rib cage was rebuilt with metal, along with metal plates in his face to support his eye socket and titanium rods in one of his legs.
But you wouldn’t know it from the new footage.
The official description: “A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”
The third season premieres Sunday, June 2 in the U.S. and Canada before rolling out in international markets the next day.
Renner had opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about what he described as dying and coming back to life after the accident. “There’s a wonderful gift in that, if you can hang on that superpower of [realizing] what has real value in our lives,” he said, noting that he has been focused on Mayor of Kingstown, but also didn’t rule out a future return to the action-packed Marvel universe.
“All I can focus on is this,” he said. “Doing television is quite arduous. It’s long hours and a lot of heavy lifting. So I’m just focusing on this right now and will see how I come out at the end of it. Because my number one priority still is my recovery and strengthening and just getting better, internally and externally, every day. And it has to be, to be able to go to work and participate in life in the world again. I’m allowing my body always to dictate what I can and cannot do in my life.”
Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach round out the cast.
Mayor of Kingstown is co-created by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan (whose Paramount+ slate includes 1923, 1883, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Special Ops: Lioness and the upcoming Landman) and co-star Dillon, and is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions exclusively for Paramount+. Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Regina Corrado, Christoph Schrewe and Keith Cox are executive producers.
