MDOT removes lane restrictions amid Fourth of July travel across Michigan

LANSING, Mich. (WILX)—The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is pausing construction and removing lane restrictions on 60% of its projects Wednesday so that people can get to their Independence Day destinations quicker and safer.

MDOT said it will begin removing restrictions at 3 p.m. Wednesday and that restrictions will be lifted until July 8.

According to AAA, 2.3 million Michiganders will travel 50 miles or more to get to their holiday destination, setting a new record.
