MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 Launch Will Be Followed By A Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Competitor, With A tipster Providing A Name For The Upcoming SoC

The Snapdragon 8 Elite will eventually be followed by a more affordable version from Qualcomm, which might be called the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, but with the flagship chipset featuring an entirely different name, there is a possibility that it might be called the Snapdragon 8s Elite. Irrespective of what its official name will be, a rumor states that MediaTek is not sitting idly, as it too is preparing a less capable version of the Dimensity 9400.

New rumor claims that the upcoming Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 competitor will be called the Dimensity 9350

While no technical specifications were mentioned in Digital Chat Station’s latest post on Weibo, he mentions that the SM8735’s biggest competitor will be the Dimensity 9350. The new silicon will serve as an option for several of MediaTek’s phone partners to use a less expensive SoC but have nearly all the flagship features that ship with the Dimensity 9400. We believe that one of the biggest differences between the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9350 will be the lithography.

Where MediaTek took advantage of TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process to mass produce the Dimensity 9400, the Dimensity 9350 could be fabricated on the 4nm ‘N4P’ process, just like the previous-generation Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 9300+. The performance capabilities of the upcoming silicon were not mentioned, but if the Dimensity 9350 can deliver an all-round better showing than MediaTek’s 2023 flagship chipsets, then we will have a winner on our hands.

One area that we could see MediaTek improve upon is increasing the L3 cache as it did with the Dimensity 9400, which features 50 percent more than the Dimensity 9300, with the Cortex-X925 sporting twice as much cache as last year’s Cortex-X4. This major change allowed the Dimensity 9400 to obtain a single-core and multi-core performance jump, and there is a high chance that MediaTek will implement this with the Dimensity 9350 launch. Of course, nothing is confirmed at this point, so it is best to treat this rumor with a pinch of salt and await future updates.
