Meet Nichapat Suphap, the fashion queen working with Thailand’s biggest stars

Riding the wave that is the Thai entertainment scene, Suphap launched her agency last year to represent a handful of the hottest faces from the country.

She’s managed to leverage the star power of actors including Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree and Mile Phakphum Romsaithong to put luxury brands like Dior and Burberry, respectively, in front of a whole new Asian audience.

As an agent to the stars, Suphap is a celebrity in her own right. After graduate school in New York, she worked at department stores Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s as a management trainee, and for brands Roberto Cavalli and Stella McCartney, per Vogue. She also worked as a freelance fashion consultant and brand scout later in her career. Her experience in fashion eventually led to contributing roles at Thai editions of international fashion titles, including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, per WWD.

It was through her work contributing to various magazines that she found her true calling. As a fashion journalist, Suphap was able to attend fashion events and become friends with industry insiders and designers along the way.

In 2018, she attended the famed Met Gala hosted by American Vogue’s Anna Wintour – a notoriously difficult invitation to score. What’s more, she was the first Thai attendee. Suphap dressed the part for the red carpet, donning a purple creation by designer and friend Peter Dundas, former artistic director of Pucci.

She followed up her look with a colourful and very puffy custom Tomo Koizumi dress – she was the first to wear a custom piece by the brand – at the camp-themed 2019 soirée.

At last year’s Met Gala honouring Karl Lagerfeld, she wore a black and white halter ball gown made especially for the event by Louis Vuitton. She was spotted at the party with K-pop star Jennie from Blackpink, among other guests.

She’s since walked the red carpets for and sat at the front row of many parties and fashion shows. Not one for the tried and tested when it comes to fashion, Suphap’s style is vibrant and feminine, laced with plenty of drama. At the recent Vanity Fair Oscar Party, she wore a yellow and peach chiffon bandage haute couture dress by Giambattista Valli.

At recent fashion weeks, she was spotted at the hottest runway shows, including Dior, Schiaparelli, Elie Saab, Versace, Giambattista Valli and many more, wearing the latest looks from the designers.

Suphap’s love for fashion has taken her beyond the realms of luxury brands and design too. Last December, she attended the White House holiday party supporting a group of women who produce Thai silk in a small village.

Wearing a white strapless cocktail dress and in the presence of President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden, it goes to show Suphap’s unofficial status as an ambassador of Thai culture reaches far beyond the fashion and entertainment scene.

The editor, consultant and cultural ambassador could soon be topping off her busy life with another achievement – becoming a Harvard graduate. She recently revealed on Instagram that she’s been accepted into Harvard Kennedy School of Government, which could mean the first step towards fulfilling a childhood dream of becoming a politician. Suphap was accepted on her first try, and told followers she wasn’t sure she’ll be able to carve time out of her busy schedule to enrol this year, but is proud to receive the admission letter nonetheless.
