Meet WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick who slayed NYFW and hangs with Angel Reese

Several WNBA players have made headlines recently, including Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, but Kysre Gondrezick is the name on everyone’s lips these days. Gondrezick recently confirmed her relationship with Boston Celtics’ shooting guard Jaylen Brown at the 2024 ESPY Awards while wearing a stunning black lace gown, one of many recent outfits that have caught the public’s attention. Gondrezick followed up that eye-catching showing with appearances at September’s New York Fashion Week, and while she may not have walked the runway, the looks she served were a slam dunk that definitely got people talking.
From a fuchsia cropped blazer and miniskirt set with floral appliqués to a chocolate corseted ‘fit, a 2001 Roberto Cavalli open-back cut-out dress to a Playboy bunny-inspired take on the office aesthetic – and even an all-black maxi dress with a plunging neckline reminiscent of old Hollywood elegance – Gondrezick has established herself as a bona fide fashion girlie.

So Kysre Gondrezick’s fashion game is definitely on point – but what else do we know about her?

Kysre Gondrezick has already played for two WNBA teams – but is now a free agent

Kysre Gondrezick, 27, was selected by the Indiana Fever as the fourth overall pick in the 2021 WNBA draft, making her the highest draft selection from West Virginia University’s programme history. She briefly played for the team before stepping away and missing the second half of their 2021 season, citing mental health concerns.

The young guard admitted in a statement, “My mental health was at a high risk as I was under a lot of stress coping with my own personal silence of traumas.” She was dropped from the team in 2022. It would be two years before she got back to the court with the Chicago Sky earlier this year, though that didn’t last either. Gondrezick was released from the team in June and is currently a free agent.

Her parents played basketball too

Gondrezick comes from a family of ballers. Her father, the late Grant Gondrezick, was drafted to the NBA by the Phoenix Suns in 1986 and later went on to play for the Los Angeles Clippers. Her mother, Lisa Harvey, also a basketball player, won the 1988 NCAA Division 1 championship with Louisiana Tech University. Even her older sister took to hoops and played for Michigan State University.
