Meeting sets interior design vision for new sports complex
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Crews collaborated to find the best athletic aesthetics for the Jonesboro Sportsplex.
The Jonesboro Sportsplex Steering Committee met to discuss interior design for the future facility on Thursday, June 6. Architectural designers from Crafton Tull presented paint colors and flooring materials for the committee’s feedback.
Executive Director for the Jonesboro A&P Commission Craig Rickert said they have one shot to get the details right. He said feedback from the experts is crucial.
“The people taking part in this are experts in volleyball, swimming, and basketball so they know what the building needs to look like, and how it’ll be usable for when we bring tournaments in,” Rickert said.
Inspiration for the interior of the building comes from beautiful areas in Jonesboro, including buildings and murals downtown. Rickert said he wants the new Sportsplex to feel like home.
“Looking at things around town, like the colors, angles, and buildings that are prominent, and trying to incorporate that kind of feel into this building,” Rickert said.
No final decisions were made during Wednesday’s meeting.
