Meg Ryan and daughter Daisy, 20, make a rare public outing together as they enjoy a sunny day of shopping in New York

Meg Ryan was spotted enjoying a sunny day of shopping with her daughter Daisy True in a rare public outing together on Wednesday in New York.

The City of Angels star, 62, and Daisy, 20, looked for books at McNally Jackson Bookstore in the SoHo area, before shopping for clothes in TriBeCa.

The actress — who was recently honored at the Sarajevo Film Festival — showed off her effortless style in a white cotton top, black cargo pants and sneakers.

The ‘90s rom-com queen wore a crossbody bag and a pair of sunglasses shielding her eyes. Meg’s blonde shoulder-length tresses were styled in light waves.

Daisy looked chic in a button-up top with a butterfly print, tucked into a pair of blue jeans and a black belt.

Meg adopted Daisy from China in 2006. She also shares biological son Jack Quaid, 32, with ex-husband actor Dennis Quaid, 70.

The former couple welcomed Jack in 1992. They were married for 10 years, before finalizing their divorce in 2001.

Five years later Meg went on to adopt Daisy, who was born in 2004.

Last year the Sleepless in Seattle star gushed about her kids, telling People, ‘I have two of the greatest kids. They are hilarious, they’re smart, they are kind, they’re interested in other people, they’re curious about the world. I feel like both of them make the world a little better, and I just feel so proud of them.’

‘It is a joy to me to know both of them,’ the doting mom added.

Daisy started college last year. At the time Ryan shared she was visiting her daughter ‘probably more than I should’ and going on hours-long drives just to see Daisy on her college campus, if only just to share a cup of coffee together.

She also admitted that she was strict as a parent, and that Daisy didn’t have a phone ‘until she was 15.’

‘She really is somebody who has a lot of different interests and she’s a great reader and she, at least, has a memory of the phone not being everything,’ she told People.

While Daisy is still getting her education, Jack has followed his into his famous parents’ footsteps as an actor.

He made his acting debut in 2012’s The Hunger Games. He has also starred on Oppenheimer, Logan Lucky, and TV series The Boys.

In July, Jack admitted he has no problem owning up to the ‘nepo baby’ label, and acknowledged that being a Hollywood offspring has put him in a ‘privileged’ position.

‘I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that’s more than half the battle,’ Jack told the Daily Beast.

‘I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways that it’s just not for a lot of actors. And I’ve just tried to work as hard as I possibly can to prove that I deserve to walk through that door.’

Jack is also aware of his privilege when he’s up for a role in a romantic comedy, considering his mom Meg is the ‘undisputed Queen of Rom-Coms.’

‘So if that’s in the rom-com space, it’s got to be different enough, and I need to work my a** off,’ he told the outlet.

Ironically, it was Ryan who tried to defend her son from the nepo baby moniker by shining a light on how the term discounts the work her son has put in to his career.

‘That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege,’ Ryan told the outlet at the time.

While Jack more than appreciated his mother having is back, he made a point of admitting that he has benefitted from having famous parents.

What Happens Later, released in 2023, marked Meg's return to the screen after eight years away. She co-starred with David Duchovny, 63, and she directed and co-wrote the film

‘My first thought was like, she’s being a mom. She’s being a loving mom. But I don’t think she’s trying to say that I’m not a nepo baby. I think she’s just trying to say that, in her opinion, it undermines my talent,’ he told the Daily Beast.

‘I don’t think it undermines my talent. I know that I work hard, and I know I’ve heard ‘no’ way more than I’ve heard ‘yes.’ But I also know that this industry is insanely hard to break into, and I had an easier time doing that than most. Both things can be true.’

Aside from being busy as a mom, Meg also recently returned to acting. What Happens Later, released in 2023, marked her comeback to the screen after eight years away. She costarred with The X Files star David Duchovny, 63, and she also directed and co-wrote the film.

Meg shot to stardom in the 1980s, playing the female love interest in hit movies like the original Top Gun and When Harry Met Sally.

As the years went on, she became inextricably identified with romantic comedies, with her best-known films including Sleepless In Seattle and You’ve Got Mail.
