Meredith Baxter to Narrate Choral Society’s Hallelujah Project 10 | Arts & Entertainment | Noozhawk
Four-time Emmy Award-nominated actress and producer Meredith Baxter will be serve as guest narrator for the Santa Barbara Choral Society’s Hallelujah Project 10 family holiday concert.
The concert will be 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at the Lobero Theatre.
As narrator, Baxter will be reading “T’was the Night Before Christmas” with accompaniment by the Choral Society Orchestra, conducted by artistic director JoAnne Wasserman.
The 60-plus Choral Society singers will be joined in the concert by The Music Academy of the West SING! Children’s Chorus. Musical selections will include traditional music from a variety of cultures and holiday traditions.
Baxter, a fixture during the heyday of family television sitcoms, starred with Michael J. Fox in the long-running Emmy Award-winning “Family Ties,” one of the highest-rated sitcoms of its time.
She executive-produced several other shows and made almost 70 movies for television, last appearing on-screen in “Christmas on the Vine in 2020.”
Baxter’s numerous theater credits include “Butterflies are Free,” “Vanities,” “Country Wife,” “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” “Agnes of God,” and “Vagina Monologues.
She starred in “City of Conversation” in Santa Barbara, “Dear Elizabeth (at Center Stage Theatre), and “Women Beyond Borders” (Rubicon Theater).
Baxter frequently has performed with her “Family Ties” co-star Michael Gross in productions of “Love Letters” around the country, including Santa Barbara. They also performed in “Diaries of Adam and Eve,” and “Talley’s Folly” (Santa Fe Actor’s Lab).
Baxter is the author of New York Times Best Selling book “UNTIED, A Memoir of Fame, Family and Floundering” (2011).
She is a speaker on alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, breast cancer, abortion rights, and LGBTQ+ issues.
Baxter and her wife live in Santa Barbara where she is “… aging gracefully with purpose,” she said.
