Mets scratch Mark Vientos from Sunday’s lineup at Mariners
Mark Vientos was a late scratch from the Mets‘ lineup for Sunday’s game at the Seattle Mariners.
Originally set to start at third base and bat eighth, Vientos is dealing with a sore left ankle.
Through 70 games, Vientos is slashing .270/.324/.536 with 17 home runs and 44 RBI.
In his place, the Mets moved Jose Iglesias from second to third base. Jeff McNeil goes from right field to second with Ben Gamel coming off the bench and taking his spot.
McNeil (sixth) and Iglesias (seventh) were set to bat in the two spots before Vientos, with catcher Luis Torrens hitting ninth. Gamel replaced Vientos at No. 8.
Between Friday’s 6-0 loss and Saturday’s 4-0 defeat, Vientos posted a combined 1-for-7 line at the plate. He doubled to left field in the second inning Friday.
