Michigan Works! hosts job fair, resource corner for the community
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WNDU) – Today Michigan Works! hosted a job fair with a room full of perspective candidates ready to work and employers ready to hire.
“We’re big on meeting individuals where they are at and helping in anyway that we can to become job ready,” said business solutions manager and organizer of the job fair Michael Mompremier.
People were guided to the job fair room that was full of local employers offering jobs with benefits and opportunities for growth. There were over 20 employers present today.
Mompremier says Michigan Works! is there to help in every step of the employment process.
“Individuals need jobs beyond every two months. So, if they need some assistance in terms of helping complete or update their resume, or cover letter assistance or professional clothing so they can feel comfortable and competent when they’re stepping in front for their interviews, come to our service center,” he said.
In addition to the job fair, there was also an area designated for resources like continued education, GED completion, medical training courses, and other supportive services.
Mompremier says Michigan Works! is here to help connect the best candidates to open positions and is happy to do it.
“We’re excited when we can connect with employers as well as local resource providers to help share information with the community and open positions that employers are looking to fill,” Mompremier finished.
Michigan Works! is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s no appointment necessary to visit. For more information about there mission and services click here.
