Parkersburg South Girls Basketball Camp

The Parkersburg South girls basketball camp, which is for all area boys and girls interested in basketball, will be held on Monday, July 29 through Wednesday, July 31 at PSHS.

Grades K-1, which will be from 10-11 a.m. is $20. Grades 2-5, which will be from 10 a.m. until 12:15 pm. is $65 and grades 6-7, which will be from 12:45 p.m. until 3 p.m. is also $65.

Drinks will be provided during the camp with food on the last day.

All participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Other awards will be presented for skill competitions and being a good teammate.

Wirt Volleyball Golf Scramble

The Wirt County High School volleyball team will hold a scramble on Saturday, July 27 at Mingo Bottom Golf Club.

Cost is $200 per foursome and there will be prizes for first and second place.

Lunch and snacks will be provided. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Two mulligans per player and teebuster is $10.

There will be a 50-50 raffle (15 tickets for $10 or 50 tickets for $20) as well.

OVAC Hall of Fame Tickets on Sale

Tickets for the 20th OVAC Hall of Fame Induction Banquet slated Saturday, Aug. 10 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling are currently on sale.

Tickets are $40 each or $320 for a table of eight, and reservations should be made by July 27. To purchase tickets, send a check (payable to Ohio Valley Athletic Conference) to HOF Chairman Tom Rataiczak, 64962 Breezy Point Lane, Bellaire, OH, 43906 or call (740) 391-2930.

This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are Libby Shepherd (OVAC Family), Terry Rataiczak (OVAC Contributor), Kim North (Media), Roger Levi (Official), John Magistro and Lou Nocida (Coaches), Bob O’Brien and Keith Sommer (1950s Athletes), Tom ‘Chip’ Coulter and Donnie Young (1960s Athletes), Scott Barnhouse and Darrell Cheripko (1970s Athletes), Aric Long and Lisa Ribble (1980s Athletes), Rafael Cruz and Bobby Sismondo (1990s Athletes), Ashley Dunigan and Kinsi Tellep (2000s Athletes), Alexa Abrams and Dan Monteroso (2010s Athletes).

The five “Legends of the OVAC” are Reyman ‘Bud’ Bonar, Mike Carson, Brian Jonard, Rod Oldham and Joe White. Tom Myers will receive the Dennis Magruder Distinguished Service Award.
