Middletown food bank launching health and fitness campaign – Central Penn Business Journal

Midwest Food Bank PA of Middletown is launching its first GIVING WELLNESS challenge campaign.

Aimed at meeting the wellness challenges of an increasing segment of individuals, families, and workplaces, the launch will be held Wednesday, National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, in the Harrisburg State Capitol Rotunda at 11 a.m.

“Our 8-week GIVING WELLNESS program delivers a triple benefit to employers, employees, and Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania—access to professional and personal health and fitness coaching to achieve a healthier you, build a healthier workplace, create a sense of community with team participation, and make a community investment with a percentage of every GIVING WELLNESS 8-week program donated to Midwest Food Bank Pennsylvania,” Kathy Anderson-Martin, executive director for Midwest Food Bank, PA said in a statement.

“For every employee participant, Midwest Food Bank receives a backpack of food for the weekend for 11 children,” added Anderson-Martin.

According to a release, Midwest Food Bank PA partnered with Precision Training Concepts and National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach Amber Peterson to create GIVING WELLNESS to impact individual and workplace health and wellness.

“Most of us eat too much,” said Anderson-Martin. “Others don’t have enough to eat. GIVING WELLNESS tackles both problems while building community and having fun. Together we are investing in health literacy, providing a fun, simple program for companies to offer employees, and making life changes with nutrition choices and fitness practices, all while raising awareness and donations to support Midwest Food Bank PA’s food distribution programs for people in Pennsylvania.”

Midwest Food Bank PA will distribute $24 million in food this year to 200 non-profit partners, free of charge, from its Pennsylvania warehouse.
